Rumi once said, "Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop." I think about that often—how trees don't fight to hold on to what no longer serves them. They don't question the wind or mourn what falls away.
Maybe that's the secret. Maybe we, too, are meant to shed, to let go without fear, to trust that new leaves will come, and we will not be less for what we've lost.
