Swept Away by the Delusion of control

D. talked about how the fear of a tick was the perfect metaphor for how the delusion that she can control the outcome of an event by thinking about it consumes her.

M. talked about how a tick is such a great example of how the smallest things can upset that sense of self, upset the ego that clings to control and abhors any violation of self.  How intimate a tick can be on the inside of my arm...and how controlling it can be.  It is the intimacy that has been so violated.
