Value of Zen

The value of Zen does not reside in the practice itself.  Rather, the value of Zen arises from the commitment and effort a person brings to the practice.

Zen only asks that you try.  Day after day:  Try.  That's the only requirement.

--Barry Briggs in 'The Path of Zen'  16pp.

I take this to mean that it isn't about technique, but rather the intention to be awake.
